NECA & the order of the Phoenix

NECA have showcased their new figures from the next Harry Potter film, the Order of the Phoenix, they are very detailed and quite well sculpted but i have to ask the question, are these right for a US toy line? i mean they don't look like they can even move let alone be played with. I'm concerned these toys will not have the longevity as the excellent Cards Inc. range.

Star Wars in Glorious 3D...Hold on.

From the latest Q & A post.

Q. Last year I heard rumors about Star Wars being re-released in theaters in 2007 in 3-D as part of its 30th anniversary. Is that still happening?

A. At this time, there are no definitive plans or dates for releasing the Star Wars saga in 3-D. While this is still a project that intrigues us, Lucasfilm's focus is on the exciting activities surrounding the 30th anniversary as well as the production of the animated Star Wars television series, the next Indiana Jones adventure and other entertainment projects.

Battlestar heads to the big (home) screen

In an interview with the Chicago Tribune, "Battlestar Galactica" producers Ron Moore and David Eick confirmed they are developing and will be making a DVD/TV premiere film version of the show.

The film, which will feature all the same cast and crew, will bridge the gap between the TV show's third and fourth seasons but will NOT resolve the cliffhanger left at the end of season three.

Moore and Eick say that cliffhanger "will take the show in a new and shocking direction". Moore and Eick also say they will go forward with the film unless the show does not come back for a fourth season. If that is the case then the film is off as well.

Ordinary Boy Preston Has No Sense of Humour

Ordinary Boys frontman Samuel Preston has walked out of a recording of BBC Two pop quiz Never Mind the Buzzcocks.

The singer, 24, took exception when host Simon Amstell read extracts from an autobiography written by his wife, Big Brother winner Chantelle Houghton.

"Preston just stormed off," said a spokeswoman for the show. "He literally walked out of the building."

Speaking to BBC Radio 1 Newsbeat, Preston said: "If that was in any other situation, I would have hit him."

He added: "I just had to remove myself from the situation, so I just got up and left."

Team captain Bill Bailey picked a member of the audience to take Preston's place for the remainder of the recording.

Preston said Chantelle thought his actions were "funny" and "sweet".

From first impressions, i have to say i pretty much hate them both!!!! An extreme reaction?? Well let me know what you think, comment below.

HMV Drops Singles Chart

HMV is pulling the official UK singles chart from its stores after more than 40 years, saying it is no longer relevant to the way it sells music.

Chart rules were changed last week, allowing downloads to be counted even if a single was not available in shops.

Sunday's top 40 featured half-a-dozen such singles, including Snow Patrol's Chasing Cars which went in at nine.

HMV says it is "not against the change" but will use its own chart from now on to avoid having gaps in its displays.

The high street chain had supported the national singles chart since the 1960s and was one of the last major retailers to display the top 40 in-store.

Xbox 360 Price Drop Soon?

Analysts--Michael Goodman and Colin Sebastian talk 360 cash! "At CES, Microsoft is introducing several new services and updates for the Xbox 360 aimed at broadening the content available over the platform beyond video games...specifically, Microsoft is now positioning the Xbox 360 as a media hub and set-top box for the living room, linking broadband connectivity and the Xbox Live service with providers of traditional media content through Internet protocol television (IPTV)."

Goodman put a few more chips on the table, telling GameSpot he was looking at the March-June time frame as fertile ground for a price drop--and that if Microsoft really wanted to disrupt the console playing field, it would slash the price by $100.

"It's a market share battle," Goodman said. The $100 cut in price is what Microsoft would do "if [it] wants to be super competitive--put Sony against the wall and put competitive pressure on the Wii."

Oblivion Gets Bigger!

British gaming mags PC Gamer and PC Zone have spilled the beans on a new Oblivion expansion titled The Shivering Isles. The new content will let players explore The Isles, which are divided into northern/southern areas titled (not too invitingly) Mania and Dementia, respectively. Players will be able to reach the Shivering Isles through a door on an island that appears in Niben Bay near Bravil.

The expansion will extend Oblivion's gameplay for another 30+ hours, and includes new quests, creatures, and dungeons. One new quest involves solving a mystery in a town on the Mania/Dementia border, where every citizen has a look-a-like. Among the new monsters are the Gatekeeper, a collection of bodyparts that have been stitched together, and the Knights of the Order, made up of tree roots.

Oblivion's first expansion, Knights of the Nine, was released November 22, 2006 for PC and Xbox 360. So far, The Shivering Isles has only been announced for PC, but with a little fairy magic the 360 and upcoming PlayStation 3 versions will get to vacation in the Isles, as well. The expansion is currently set for a Q2 2007 release.
