Brutes Playable in Halo 3?

According to a post on a few blogs out of Europe, a new Halo 3 video will be headed to Xbox Live Marketplace on December 20 showing Brutes as playable characters. The alleged seven-minute video will also feature two and a half minutes of gameplay, which would make it the first time the public has gotten a look at the game in action.

These blogs belong to members of Belgium's Xbox Elite Team, a group of Xbox 360 gamers who are regional ambassadors for the system. Xbox Ambassadors are sanctioned by Microsoft but aren't actually employed by the company. Typically, Ambassadors are active community members willing to go the extra mile to help out others.

Gamespot.com can not confirm this but believe it to be Bogus until prove correct. we will have to wait and see.

Halo Lead Multiplayer Designer Leaves Bungie

For everyone who raves about Halo’s multiplayer, an announcement today from Bungie could potentially affect Halo 3’s multiplayer functionality...

Max Oberman who was the lead developer on Halo 2 and Halo 3’s multiplayer engine has chosen to leave Bungie after 10 years. Oberman has decided to form a new company called Certain Affinity based out of Austin, TX. His company will, no doubt, be one to watch in the future for amazing multiplayer console games. Their first Xbox 360 game will be announced sometime next year.

In an official statement, Oberman said “What we've accomplished with Halo 3 is extraordinary," Hoberman said. "Halo 2 turned the online world on its head, but Halo 3 is going to rip its head right off. I am proud of my contribution to the Halo series and have learned a lot from my friends at Bungie."

R.I.P Martin Nodell

Martin Nodell, the creator of Green Lantern, the comic book superhero who uses his magical ring to help him fight crime, has died. He was 91.

Nodell died at a nursing home in Muskego, Wisconsin, on Saturday of natural causes, his son Spencer Nodell told The Associated Press on Tuesday. He previously lived in West Palm Beach.

Nodell was looking for a new idea for a comic book in 1940 when he was waiting for a New York subway and saw a train operator waving a lantern displaying a green light, said Maggie Thompson, senior editor of Comics Buyer's Guide.

Nodell imagined a young engineer, Alan Scott, a train crash survivor who discovers in the debris an ancient lantern forged from a green meteor. Scott constructs a ring from the lamp that gives him super powers, and becomes a crime fighter.

He brought his drawings and story lines to All-American Publications, which later became a part of National Periodical Publications, the company that was to become DC Comics, Thompson said. (DC Comics is a unit of Time Warner, as is CNN.)

The first Green Lantern appearance came in July 1940, an eight-page story in a comic book also featuring other characters. The character then got his own series, and Nodell drew it until 1947 under the name Mart Dellon.

After its cancellation in 1949, the series was reborn in 1959 with a revised story line, and it has been revived several times.

A little less Acting for Cage

Actor and former Oscar winner Nicolas Cage plans to take time off from acting to concentrate on interests, including developing independent film-making.

"I feel I've made a lot of movies already and I want to start exploring other opportunities... whether it's writing or other interests," said Cage.

Cage, 42, told the Associated Press new agency he hoped to help develop cinema in the Bahamas, his new home. More over at the BBC

Sega take on Alien

Sega has inked a deal with 20th Century Fox Licensing and Merchandising for a series of games based on the "Alien" movies says The Hollywood Reporter.

The company is also in talks with actors from the films, including Sigourney Weaver and Lance Henriksen, to reprise their movie roles by providing their likenesses and voice roles for the games

The publisher, best known for its "Sonic the Hedgehog" video game franchise, is developing multiple next-generation console and PC video games set in the "Alien" universe, including a first-person shooter and a role-playing game.

Whilst the games will not follow the strict story lines of any of the four films in the series but instead will provide a new experience by drawing from the history and lore that is the foundation of the films.

The releases will also mark the first time games based on the franchise will be made in high definition. The first products are expected to ship in 2008.

Wii Brits have played the Wii

Yes, Wii may be one of the last countries to get our hands on Nintendo's new power in the battle for console stardom, but at last the United Kingdom have the sexy new Wii! With this in mind and knowing a few close friends (nearly all of them) had queued in the freezing cold (while i was in bed) for the Wii i organised a last minute Sunday Wii fest.

My still-proud-wii-owner friend bought his Wii around neatly packaged in the very box it came in, you know when a console is still desired when people take care in taking it out of the house and do not resort to carrier bags... yet!. After a bit of setting up we were ready to rock! People soon arrived bringing their wii-motes, my idea was to film it and pretend we were part of those American Wii adverts you see, you know the ones, where everyone looks like they should be in the intro to an episode of friends. We didn't bother, we just played Wii sports and forgot about trying to be 'random youtube fodder'.

It didn't take me long to learn the ropes (point at tellly, twist and click, easy), soon i was flung into a game of Bowling, easily the best part of Wii Sports. Having failed miserably the first time around, i soon got the hang of it and got my first strike (and yes, i hit a trailer like pose too) i think the trick is not to rotate your wrist to much! (rotating makes the ball head to the gutters....). Golf was next... which i was really bad at, fun, but really bad! you kind of feel silly when you miss from 2 yards... but thats all part of the genius of the new control system, all it takes is one untimely poke in the ribs and wallah! a Bogey! Baseball...ah baseball... how fun is baseball, anyone who has played the baseball game will know that it is a hell of a lot of fun!!! i hit one home run, but that was as far as i got in the hours that passed. Tennis, well frankly there was not the space needed to play tennis in my house, we did try and yes... i sucked. Didn't get around to playing Boxing.

The plan was to invite friends around and play a few games for an hour or two, six hours later...

Nintendo's Wii is a very addictive, very original, a truly great machine, and unfortunately we only had the time to play Wii Sports, with so many launch titles available and such a low price Nintendo have done the gaming community proud. I feel sorry for people with small tellies and little bedrooms, this is clearly the modern mans latest apartment gadget.

My favourite feature was the Mii's, i had already been created and sent over the net to my friends machine! my god it looks like me, we laughed our bollocks off at all the look-a-likes wondering around his console, all my friends were digitalised, a few of my friends pets were turned into 'what they would of looked like if they were human' even Michael Jackson and Robert DeNiro turned up!! 100 reasons why to have lots of friends, turn them into Mii's.

Also on the side of the remote, in the fine details, etched for eternity is the word 'POO' someone at Nintendo has a great sense of humour.

If i didn't have a mortgage, car, loan and bills to pay i would have been in that cue with them, unfortunately that is not the case and forced to watch from the sidelines. I would urge everyone to buy one if they had the chance, and with the Xbox 360's game line-up looking so strong i have to worry about the ever-delayed PS3 for the UK market. Better start saving!

The cool folks over at action-figure.com have posted images of an amazing Link Statue.

First 4 Figures is hugely proud to present the one that the fans have all been waiting for, Adult Link from the Ocarina of Time game! His pose shows him winding up for his signature spin attack. Cast in high quality poly-stone, the statue is hand finished and hand painted. Not only has Adult Link been faithfully recreated, but so has the Master Sword and Hylian Shield. Stands upon a diorama base and includes a dungeon map and dungeon key for added realism. Comes packed in a foam interior full colored box with a card of authenticity.
