Yeah, unfortunately the Star Trek project by J.J Abrams is being delayed until May 2009. No Xmas Release this year. More over at Variety.

Shaun of the Dead here Simon Pegg has been offered the job of Scotty in JJ Abrams remake of the classic Star Trek. Other than 'the usual paperwork' Pegg looks set to take the next step in his brilliant acting career.

Star Trek's 11th big screen outing also stars Eric Bana, Zachary Quinto and Leonard Nimoy, and filming is due to start next month.

Pegg has also recently stared in Run Fat Boy Run and of course, Hott Fuzz.
